How to entertain children during your wedding?

Knowing how to entertain children at your wedding is essential so that adults and little ones will keep a great memory of your big day.

  • Hiring a baby-sitter

Hiring one or two baby-sitters is THE solution to make sure that the parents and the others guests will spend a nice day. Indeed, it allows children to be entertained during the whole evening without getting bored while parents will enjoy the party without being worried.

You do not want to spend money on a baby-sitter?  Offer to the parents to look after the kids in small groups.

 

  • Create a kids corner

If it is possible in your reception room, you can create a special corner for kids with tables, chairs and games. They will have fun there during the whole day thanks to the games put at their disposal. The best alternative would be to create this corner in a different room so children could be in a quiet place without disturbing the adults.

This could also be an advantage for the end of the night. Indeed, you could create a space with different pillows, fatboys and mattresses and why not a tipi so that little ones will be able to rest after this long day. The parents will thank you for sure!

 

  • Animations

To entertain all your little guests during your wedding day, you have several choices.

You can allow them to take part to the ceremony so they will feel involved and won’t get bored during this important moment: junior bridesmaids and groomsmen, flower girls, announcing the arrival of the bride and the groom… A lot of possibilities can be done!

During the evening, you can choose the traditional colouring activity but it may not keep the kids’ attention during the whole day.

Thus, you can choose to offer them surprise boxes full with soap bubbles bottles, confetti, candies and small gifts. You can also organize before that a small treasure hunt to keep the children busy during one or two hours. At the end of the hunt, they will find out the surprise boxes and will have fun with it during the rest of the wedding.

And why not organizing a small show for the bride, the groom and the rest of the guests? The baby sitter or the adult that is taking care of the children will help them to create choreography on a song of their choice. This activity will allow the little ones to take part to the adults evening.

If you reception hall has a large outdoor space and if the weather is nice, put up a giant bouncy castle or a trampoline. All the children will be thrilled for sure! 

If your budget allows it, hiring a professional makeup artist and/or a magician is also the perfect idea to entertain children during your wedding day. Indeed, they will be fascinated for hours.

For the end of the night and if it is possible, think about cartoons and children books so they will fall asleep easily.

 

Eventually and whatever your budget, entertaining little ones during a wedding is an important element to think about during the organisation and allows to guarantee to the parents a peace of mind and to give the children great memories.
